About Dave Hanke

Dave advises domestic and foreign companies on matters at the intersection of national security and business, including navigating the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States. While working on Capitol Hill, he was the lead staff architect of the Foreign Investment Risk Review Modernization Act and was involved with the crafting of the “emerging and foundational technologies” provisions of the Export Control Reform Act.

These two laws, which modernized CFIUS and updated the export control system, were both enacted in August of last year, and draft implementing regulations are likely to be rolled out sometime this year. This implementation will have an impact on all types of foreign investment and technology exports across multiple sectors as the US Government takes a broader view of national security.
