Charlie focuses his practice on corporate transactions and commercial matters across the sports, media, entertainment, and consumer-facing industries. He advises clients on mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance matters, media rights transactions, sponsorship arrangements, and other strategic commercial agreements. Charlie works closely with clients to navigate complex business objectives, manage transaction processes, and identify practical solutions to legal and commercial challenges.

Client Work

Prior to joining ArentFox Schiff, Charlie practiced at leading New York law firms, where he represented sports leagues and teams, media companies, financial institutions, private equity firms, and corporate clients in connection with acquisitions, strategic investments, sponsorships, media rights arrangements, content licensing agreements, and general corporate matters. He has experience advising clients through all stages of a transaction, from diligence and negotiation through closing.

Representative transactions include:

  • Representing LIV Golf in connection with its linear and digital media rights agreements, original content license agreements, team and league sponsorships, and various general corporate matters.
  • Representing MoneyGram in its title sponsorship of the Haas F1 Team.
  • Representing a professional sailing team in connection with various sponsorship agreements.
  • Representing a large public broadcasting company in its proposed acquisition of FOX regional sports networks.
  • Representing various programmers and distributors in drafting and negotiating linear and digital distribution agreements.
  • Representing a gaming SPAC in connection with a cross-border sports wagering media partnership.
  • Representing professional sports leagues in connection with ownership transfer and approval processes.
  • Representing Discovery, Inc. in its acquisition of Golf Digest.

Life Beyond the Law

Outside of work, Charlie enjoys playing soccer, exercising, attending sporting events, exploring new restaurants, and spending time with his pug, Lily.
