Legacy Vulcan Files NAFTA Claim Against Mexico

Also on January 3, 2019, ICSID registered an investment claim by US company Legacy Vulcan against Mexico brought under NAFTA’s chapter 11.

Through a local subsidiary, Vulcan invested in a lime extraction plant, a port terminal and a fleet of ships in the Mexican state of Quintana Roo. Vulcan alleges breaches of Most Favored Nation (Art. 1103), Minimum Standard of Treatment (Art. 1105), Expropriation (Art. 110) and National Treatment (Art. 1102).  Mexico is presently defending six other ICSID investment claims.
