AFS Partners Christine Quigley and Susan Bart will speak at the CEPC Breakfast Program on March 12, 2026.

Christine and Susan will lead a session titled “Avoiding the Illinois Surprise: Strategic Planning for the State Estate Tax,” offering estate‑planning professionals a clear, practical look at navigating the complexities of Illinois’ estate tax regime. Their discussion will begin with an overview of core concepts—how the Illinois estate tax applies, how it is calculated, and what makes it unique among state systems.

Building on these fundamentals, the presentation will explore the application of the Illinois exclusion across a range of scenarios, including distinctions between residents and nonresidents and the treatment of in‑state versus out‑of‑state property. Christine and Susan will also outline strategic planning approaches designed to help clients minimize exposure to Illinois estate tax, with thoughtful comparisons of planning techniques for both Illinois residents and nonresidents with Illinois‑situs assets.

The program is pending approval for one (1) continuing education credit for CFP, CLE, CPA, CPWA, CTFA, and Insurance professionals.
