AFS Partner Tom Abendroth will present at the 45th Annual Kansas City Estate Planning Symposium on April 23, 2026.
In Tom’s session, “A Comprehensive Look at Formula Valuation Clauses,” he will explore the evolving landscape of valuation clauses and their role in modern estate planning. Tom will examine how advisors have historically used savings clauses to define gifts and how recent scrutiny has challenged approaches once thought to be settled. Drawing on key developments, including Wandry v. Commissioner, he will discuss current thinking and practical options for advisors navigating valuation uncertainty in an increasingly complex planning environment.
The Kansas City Estate Planning Symposium is the Midwest’s premier estate planning conference, bringing together multi-disciplinary insights from nationally recognized leaders in the field. Participants can earn up to 16 hours of continuing education credit while engaging in real-time dialogue with speakers and peers.
