Arent Fox Named Unsecured Creditors Committee Counsel in Dean & Deluca Bankruptcy Proceedings

Arent Fox’s Bankruptcy & Financial Restructuring practice was retained as counsel to represent the official committee of unsecured creditors in the Chapter 11 case of Dean & Deluca New York Inc., et al.

Dean & Deluca is an iconic gourmet grocery store chain that first opened its doors in 1977 in the SoHo neighborhood of New York City. At its peak in July 2018, the chain expanded to include 37 retail locations before suffering from lackluster sales. Last year, the chain closed its physical locations and ceased operations after depleting available cash. In an effort to save the brand, the company filed for Chapter 11 in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Manhattan on Tuesday, March 31. The company is seeking to reorganize around its valuable intellectual property. This engagement is being led by New York Managing Partner Andrew I. Silfen and Partners George P. Angelich and Jordana L. Renert.

Arent Fox’s Bankruptcy & Financial Restructuring practice has been recognized by Forbes as one of the best and most recommended firms for bankruptcy and financial restructuring counseling among corporate law firms in America. U.S. News & World Report and Best Lawyers also ranked our practice as one of the best in the nation in its 2020 “Best Law Firms” rankings.

The firm handles financial and corporate restructurings and recapitalizations, bankruptcy and strategic litigation, and distressed and stressed asset and corporate acquisitions, all in a variety of industries throughout the country, including healthcare, and Chapter 9 municipal proceedings.
