ArentFox Schiff Represents CSB Theatres in $12 Million Acquisition of Historic Somerville Theatre Building

ArentFox Schiff represented CSB Theatres, Inc., in its $12 million acquisition of the historic Somerville Theatre building at 55 Davis Square in Somerville, Massachusetts. The transaction gives the theatre’s current operators ownership of the 112-year-old building that has been home to the Somerville Theatre since 1914.

CSB Theatres, which is owned and operated by a group of the theatre’s longtime staff, took over cinema and live music operations in 2025. The newly acquired property is home to the Somerville Theatre, the Crystal Ballroom at Somerville Theatre, a live music and event space, and Mr. Crepe.  

The transaction was completed on a compressed timeline after the property was put up for sale this summer. Financing included support from First Citizens Bank & Trust Company and two private lenders.
