Tom Abendroth will present on May 23, 2023 at the Illinois CPA Society’s 2023 Estate, Gift & Trust Conference.

Tom will examine the evolution of the marital deduction since it was first introduced into the tax code. He will also discuss the seemingly simple requirements for qualifying for it that still occasionally create problems for taxpayers, and he will review its current use in estate planning. Premarital planning and the impact of divorce will also be discussed.
