Arent Fox Celebrates 10th Anniversary of Diversity Scholarship Program
Arent Fox LLP is proud to announce it will begin accepting applications from first-year law students on December 1, 2014 for its Diversity Scholarship Program, marking the 10th anniversary for the firm’s annual financial award to three students who demonstrate a commitment to practicing law at the highest level.
“As we celebrate the 10-year mark for the Diversity Scholarship Program, we can proudly say that it has surpassed our expectations and created a pipeline of highly qualified candidates from diverse backgrounds,” said Arent Fox Chairman Mark M. Katz, chair of the firm’s Diversity & Inclusion Committee. “The results have been tangible and the program has led to a ‘virtuous cycle.’ Other firms quickly followed our lead, while our scholarship participants have become excellent ambassadors for Arent Fox.”
Applications will be accepted starting December 1, 2014 until 11:59 pm (local time) on January 21, 2015. The scholarship award includes a position in Arent Fox’s 2015 Summer Program in the Los Angeles, New York, and Washington, DC offices.
“I am very proud that our law firm had the foresight to start this program, and the perseverance to keep it,” said Chairman Emeritus Marc L. Fleischaker. “We have now awarded approximately $400,000 in scholarships, as well as shown that qualified first year students can succeed in a summer program at a top law firm.”
Arent Fox’s 2015 Summer Program will last for 10 weeks, from May 18, 2015 through July 24, 2015. The summer associate salary is $3,000 per week and the scholarship recipient will receive the $15,000 award in July 2015. All scholarship recipients will be expected to participate in the 2015 Summer Program, as well as attend the “Leadership Council on Legal Diversity” Conference for 1L Scholars in Dallas, TX.
The Arent Fox Diversity Scholarship Program was started in 2006 and is part of the firm’s commitment to attracting top lawyers from diverse backgrounds. Since its conception, the firm has awarded 25 scholarships and recognized 33 finalists throughout the country. Those winning students have been selected from thousands of compelling applicants.
Interviews for scholarship applicants will be held in February, with winners announced in March 2015.
