Charitable & Philanthropic Planning with Tangible Personal Property and Collections

Fred Weber will present on a panel with an insurance expert who specializes in fine art, and a fine art appraiser who is also a licensed auctioneer. The discussion will focus on how families might use fine art and collectibles in pursuit of their philanthropic goals. Among other things, the panel will  discuss the pros and cons of using tangible personal property to make gifts to individuals and charities, the importance of qualified appraisals for income, gift, and estate tax purposes, and how to avoid gaps in insurance coverage that can occur when fine art and collectibles are delivered from the donor to the recipient during life and after the donor’s death.
