Further California DCA Waivers Broadly Impact Health Licensing Requirements

California Governor Newsom’s March 30 Executive Order

DCA's waivers temporarily ease licensing requirements for PAs, NPs, CNMs, pre-licensure nursing programs and students, and other health care professionals, during the COVID-19 emergency period. 

On May 6, DCA issued another set of temporary waivers impacting a range of healthcare professionals and the health care facilities where they practice, as follows:

• Order Waiving In-Person Physician Examination Requirement for Continued Physical Therapy Treatment
• Order Waiving Face-to-Face Supervision Requirements for Psychology Trainees
• Order Waiving In-Person Supervision Requirements for Speech-Language Pathology Assistants and Required Professional Experience Temporary Licensees
• Order Waiving Face-to-Face Training and Supervision Requirements for Marriage Family Therapists, Professional Clinical Counselors, and Clinical Social Workers

Health care licensees and facilities should review the waivers to understand the adjusted requirements and their limitations, which are in effect for a period of 60 days only, until July 5, unless amended or extended.
