Cygal Quoted as Chicago Businesses Face Insurance Uncertainties After Looting

Insurance & Reinsurance Practice Co-Leader Everett J. Cygal was quoted on how Chicago businesses are facing uncertain times following the recent looting.

Everett said that insurers are unlikely to fight claims related to widespread civil unrest, following the death in Minneapolis of George Floyd. 

Everett said that most businesses should have insurance because their landlords or mortgage lenders require it. “It won’t be a coverage issue, but whether they purchased enough.” Noting that the largest challenge may be small businesses having high deductibles or coverage caps that may not address the extent of the damage.
