Patel Quoted on Patent Litigation Trends in 2022
Intellectual Property Practice Group Co-Leader Sailesh Patel was quoted on the patent litigation trends to watch for in 2022, including the uptick in patent owners looking to litigation funding businesses.
Sal said that the increase of litigation funder activity in patent litigation could lead to an increase in patent enforcement.
“That could have a big impact,” he said. “There’s a lot of money that people have invested, hoping that patent litigation will have payoffs.”
Another trend for 2022 is more litigation based on new technology.
Sal pointed to recent patent suits over e-cigarette technology as an area to watch, as well as potential litigation over cannabis patents.
