On June 23, 2026, ArentFox Schiff hosted the HGPII Annual Best Practices Forum, an annual ethics and best business practices training session. The annual forum brings together executives from Group Purchasing Organizations (GPOs) across the country, providing a dynamic platform for evaluating best practices and exploring the latest innovations in health care supply chain management.
This year’s program featured a comprehensive lineup of presentations examining the future of the health care supply chain, with a focus on trade policy, artificial intelligence, operational resilience, and health system leadership. Highlights included:
- Opening remarks from Senator Byron Dorgan and Congressman Phil English, Co-Chairmen of the AFS Government Relations practice, as well as HGPII Steering Committee Chairman John Thompson;
- A HGPII Steering Committee panel discussing technology innovation, AI, supply shortages, nearshoring, and the future direction of the group purchasing industry;
- A supplier panel discussing the effects of tariffs, geopolitical developments, natural disasters, and other disruptions on the health care supply chain and GPOs;
- A HGPII Advisory Council presentation on the ethical and responsible use of AI in supply chain operations;
- A trade policy overview from AFS Senior Associate Mario Torrico examining recent international trade regulatory developments affecting health care suppliers;
- A discussion between Angela Ellard of the Center for Strategic and International Studies and Congressman English examining current trade and tariff policies, onshoring initiatives, and their implications for health care supply chains.
English serves as National Coordinator for HGPII, one of health care’s most prominent professional transparency and self-regulatory projects, with Dorgan as Co-Coordinator and Oliver Spurgeon of ArentFox Schiff as Executive Director.
