Jasjit’s practice focuses on a broad range of intellectual property and complex commercial matters, with a particular emphasis on patent and trade secret litigation.

Jasjit has extensive experience representing businesses in commercial litigation matters as both plaintiff and defendant for litigations involving intellectual property, unfair competition, misappropriation of trade secrets, and commercial contract disputes. He also has particular experience in utilizing inter partes review in combination with district court litigation strategies to achieve optimal litigation outcomes for clients.

He also maintains an active patent counseling practice, including patent procurement, licensing, and transactional matters.

Client Work

Jasjit represents clients in a wide array of cases in state and federal courts across the country, as well as the USPTO Patent Trial and Appeal Board. His experience spans a wide spectrum of technology, including wireless communication, distributed storage systems, data compression, lasers, financial transactions, and display devices. Jasjit has been a member of and led teams of associates in securing favorable outcomes for his clients at all stages of the litigation process.

Jasjit’s practice also encompasses IP procurement and counseling.  He frequently advises clients on IP issues, including avoidance of third-party rights, assessment of the scope and value of patent portfolio during mergers and acquisitions, and strategies for generation of revenue through licensing and litigation. He also has extensive experience in managing and counseling clients on global patent procurement strategies, including having drafted over 100 patent applications over the course of his career.

Previous Work

Prior to joining ArentFox Schiff, Jasjit was a patent agent and subsequently an associate at a national law firm. Before law school, Jasjit served as a patent examiner with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) for eight years prosecuting patent applications in fields of data storage and computer peripherals.  

While in law school, Jasjit interned at the US International Trade Commission, Office of the General Counsel focusing on section 337 patent litigation.

Life Beyond the Law

Jasjit enjoys tennis and golf. He is also working on his private pilot license.
